Coolest Places to Visit in The United States
When in the U.S., there is an endless list of places to go and much will depend on their interests, the time you have to spend, and how much you want to travel.
In the state of Arizona is the Grand Canyon. Created by the Colorado River over 6 million years, the Grand Canyon is a spectacular gorge extending 277 miles with a width of between 4 to 18 km and depths of over a mile.
California has some very interesting places to visit, including the infamous prison of Alcatraz, Death Valley National Park, which is the warmest, driest and lowest in desert land, Hearst Castle, the Museum J. Paul Getty and the Griffith Observatory, which are both in Los Angeles. Depending on the time of year you visit, Yosemite National Park offers attractions that you can tell your grandchildren. A visit to California would not be complete without a tour of Warner Brothers Studios in Burbank.
The Mystic Seaport Maritime Museum and USS Nautilus Submarine Museum in Connecticut to make a mandatory stop for those interested in the sea and ships crossing above and below the waves.
Delaware Historical Society, occupies an area of 500 blocks of a shopping center in Wilmington and includes the Delaware History Museum, Old Town Hall, Willington Square, and HSD's research library.
High on the list of places to visit in the U.S. should be NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida, where for over thirty tours groups have heard stories about men in space and travel to the moon. Castillo de San Marcos and the Natural History Museum of Florida are well worth a look too.
Popping to Hawaii, you can visit the beaches and many monuments and attractions, but one that comes immediately to mind is the USS Arizona Memorial at Pearl Harbor.
Back on the mainland, President Abraham Lincoln Library and Museum and the Lincoln home in Springfield, Illinois, are places where any traveler would love to see. Of Frank Lloyd Wright Home and Studio in Oak Park are architectural wonders that you must visit while in Illinois.
Lincoln City, Indiana, is home of Abraham Lincoln Adolescents National Memorial, and has the Louisiana National WWII Museum in New Orleans and Oak Valley Plantation in Vacherie.
In Maine, is the Maine Maritime Museum for lovers of the sea and the Tram Museum shore for land lovers. While in Maryland, you can see the Antietam (Civil War) National Battlefield and the Museum of Maryland African American History and Culture.
Massachusetts offers a buffet of places to visit including the historic Salem, famous for the witch trial. You can visit Plymouth Plantation and Pilgrim Hall Museum, in Plymouth. If you are in Boston, visit the Paul Revere House, the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library, the Museum of Fine Arts, the USS Constitution Museum, and the Freedom Trail. Do not forget to Harvard University and Historic Deerfield and the National Heritage Museum in Lexington and Battleship Cove in Fall River.
In Michigan, is the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn and R Gerald Ford Museum in Grand Rapids.
Missouri is the home of S Harry Truman Presidential Library.
Nevada has the Hoover Dam.
In New Jersey there Morristown National Historical Park and the Thomas Edison National Historic Site.
Places to visit in New York are the Empire State Building, the world famous Statue of Liberty, the Intrepid Sea-Air-Space Museum, Immigration Museum on Ellis Island, National Baseball Hall of Fame, West Point (U.S. Military Academy . UU., and the American Museum of Natural History.
The House of Vanderbilt, Biltmore Estate, historic plantation and Latta are located in North Carolina. South Carolina is home to Fort Sumter, the fort where the Civil War.
The United States Air Force Museum is near Dayton, Ohio. In Oregon you can visit the Lewis and Clark National and State Historical Parks.
Steeped in history, Pennsylvania is home to several historic must see: the battlefield of Gettysburg, the National Museum of the Civil War, Independence Hall, National Constitution Center, and the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania.
Mount Rushmore National Park in South Dakota is known around the world. While in the area, do not forget the Badlands National Park and Black Hills National Forest as well.
In Tennessee, is the National Museum of Civil Rights. In Texas, is home of the Alamo and Johnson Space Center of NASA.
In Virginia, several historic sites and atrractions: the home of Thomas Jefferson, Monticello, the home of George Washington, Mount Vernon, and the birthplace of Robert E. Lee, Stratford Hall Plantation.
The name of Washington DC, the capital of the country speaks for itself: The White House, Arlington National Cemetery, Smithsonian Museums, Lincoln Memorial and the Memorials of the Holocaust, World War II and Vietnam Veterans and Ford's Theater.
In Wyoming, is the beautiful Yellowstone National Park.
And for the young and young at heart, one of the most popular places to visit is, of course, Disneyland.
