Wilhelm began producing and advertising the “Sensation Water,” which was an immediate hit among his male associates, and began calling it Cologne, the French title for the city of Koln.  His Cologne was called 4711” following the street address of his depot, and is expected to include had a refreshing citrus base.  4711 is still produced right now, although the Mulhense group sold their cologne production supply to Wella in 1994.

The Differences
