I just returned from 3 months in Europe by myself (I'm aslso 18) and the girl who answered above me has stuck. But it can contribute a suggestion.

The idea is to allow passengers traveling companions remain in their homes. It's a bit risky, in theory, I understand, but the site has profiles, references, a security system that checks up on you if you go missing. It will save lots of money, rather than meet the best people. They are automatically in your thinking as traveling companions and are local, so they can show the best places to go (not go). I did it for a good 2. 5 months and had no bad experiences (a few people and do not click but no one tried to rape and death / cup from me. What I think is quite impressive).

Go Euro-Rail. If you do spend the night on the train you in first class cabins with beds shortly. The price in the long run is the same for cheaper than decent hotels.

Things like Contiki trips are organized to give you a pretty good idea of where you are and the little things about the area know they can be useful. . However, in that groups are often quite large. . .
