  1.   I used to be a faithful buyer of Lonely Planet, until it reached my hands on this book. Maps, details and recommendations on the ground, from restaurants to accomdations activities. The only time we had something more than an excellent meal in Cozumel was when we went to a place recommended by someone at the hotel, unlike what is recommended in this book. The detail on each site is very informative. It took me three travel guides me to Cozumel (okay, I admit, I'm obsessed guide), and next time would be nothing more than this. In fact, on the basis of this trip I'd like to pick up a Moon guide every time I travel. The section on Mayan ruins was particularly informative. Recommendation of the book took to travel to their place of Tulum, Coba, and I was not disappointed.
A disclaimer – I only went to Cozumel and Coba, so I can not speak for how well this book is in Cancun and Playa del Carmen.

  2.   This is by far the best guide for Cancun and surrounding areas out there. The depth is incredible, the authors mention somewhere that stayed in Cancun for two months, and it shows. Cancun is not only – or to the coverage of Cozumel, Playa del Carmen, the Mayan ruins, and all up and down the coast is excellent. The problem with some guides (Lonely Planet, Frommers, etc.) is that "taking sides" – are too cynical about the "gringos on vacation" or totally ignore anything that is not sold in a package. Moon's book really showed both sides: from the beaches and night clubs and five star restaurants, museums and Mayan ruins and the street food. (The real culture in Cancun – who knows?) There are also good suggestions for people traveling with children, another complaint about some of my guides. We have all the R & R we wanted, plus a couple of things you never expected. The Moon is a well-known name, but this book is worth having.

  3.   I've traveled a bit through the years and have always relied on Frommer's and Fodor's, but the moon blows them away! Fantastic ideas, great suggestions. I have my honeymoon planned to use this book and found a wonderful hotel that travel agents do not know! I will use the guidelines of the Moon from now!
