haha– they do not really charge per piece of toilet paper! They do charge 100 or 200 colones (about .25 – .40 USD) to USE the bathroom if you are not a client of that restaurant or gas station.
hey rjlevin11, well, you are kinda right too. I’ve seen both. In many places they actually give you the toilet paper before going in, and in others you pay to use the bathroom and the toilet paper is ‘included’. I think the point is more to be prepared if your cruisin around the country or backpacking, especially in rural places because many times there’s no attendants OR toilet paper, just the bathroom- so it couldn’t hurt to carry some extra TP. thanx for the comment and clarification.
